Who Let Girls in the Boys' Locker Room? Elaine Moore 9780816734399 Books

Michelle is terrified about going to sixth grade at Jefferson Junior High. She is a good basketball player, though, and is excited about trying out for the girls' team. When she gets to school, though, she finds out that budget cuts have left room for only one basketball team. Despite sneers from the student body, she and several other girls decide to try out for the now co-ed team. When she makes it, though, she realizes that tryouts were the easy part. The hard part is trying to get the other team members and the rest of the school to accept her as part of the team.

This book was really outdated. These days a school would never be able to get away with the sort of attitude toward girls that this book takes. When one basketball team has to be cut and the teams are combined, it is never referred to as a co-ed team; it is still the boys' team. Girls are just permitted to try out. Pep talks and such take place in the boys' locker room. The boys are afraid of guarding the girls. The one major incident--someone drawing mustaches on the girls' pictures--is never really dealt with.

All in all, it was a pretty flimsy look at an improbable situation.

Obama, that's who
As if we dont have a society that already promotes a complete lack of respect for the privacy of boys and men, Elaine Moore has to write a book encouraging girls to excercise their 'feminst equality' side to a new level.

This book sends a clear message. Boys dont deserve respect, privacy or modesty and girls can treat boys in a manner that would be totally reprehensible if reversed. Its no wonder boys are struggling so much in schools today with such a broad spectrum of disrespect, double standards and legalised discrimination. So much for equality.

Are girls ever going to be responsible for what they do, or is it only boys and men who have to respect the opposite sex.

Wonderful message, Ms Moore. Is this some kind of double standard fantasy your acting out on? What a great example to set. As if girls needed any encouragement to degrade boys to begin with.
Whoa Baby! Watch out cause those girls must be snooping. What are they doing in the Boys Locker Room! The boys must be freaken.
This was probably the worst book I ever read. I unfortunately thought that because the cover had a funny picture the book would be funny.

Only read it if you really like basketball and think guys are jerks. Don't read it if you like an interesting story, characters and comedy.
